Date: 20th April 2017
Dear Esteemed Members,
As you may be aware that Wooden Furniture is classified under the Second Schedule (Conditional Prohibition except under an Export License) of the Customs (Prohibition of Exports) Order 2012. This Order was put on hold in 2013 by MPIC Minister following lobbying by MFC. Unfortunately, with the recent events we believe that this Order will once again be reinstated and MTIB Export License will be required.
As the representative of the furniture industry, MFC strongly feels that the Customs (Prohibition of Exports) Order 2012 and the MTIB Export License for wooden furniture will be very detrimental to the growth of the industry and the implementation/compliance costs will be huge that it will far exceed the benefits.
In this regard, we are going to send a petition to YB Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities (MPIC) for his attention and action.
Therefore, we would like get your support by signing the attached petition. ( A Petition Template is attached for you to use)
We would very much appreciate if you could please return the signed petition to your state furniture associations or to MFC secretariat before 26 April 2017 (Wednesday), 3pm.

Thank you for your kind cooperation.
